From the Editor - Noah Streit

Vacation. I like the way that word rolls off my tongue. Vacation. Say it again. It seems like so long ago. Oh well…

For all you new students on campus, I bid you welcome. I hope that you use Yeshiva University to its fullest extent. There are incredible classes offered here - take them. There are extraordinary people here -meet them. There are exceptional opportunities here - take advantage of them.

For those of you returning, I'm sure you are aware of this, so I simply wish you hatzlacha. I know this upcoming semester is going to be a tough one, they're always tough. However its important that amongst our dual curriculum and whatever other extracurricular activities we involved ourselves in, weshould not lose sight of our own personal growth and our place within society. It is true that we must devote much of our time to functioningon a micro level, but remember that we are and will be important members of the Jewish community and we must not lose this macro perspective. To enhance our macro perspective the Commentator will be expanding its coverage of that which occurs within the Jewish world, because while weexist within the confines of YU and especially when we leave ouresteemed university, that is the world in which we function and it isimperative that we have an enhanced awareness of all that transpireswithin it. Oh yes, I also have an announcement to make in regards to the Commentator. I figure I might as well say it here because then I've committed myself and there is no turning back. Hopefully by March, the Commentator will turn from a bi-weekly production, that is twice a month, to a weekly production - once a week. That means more Commentator for your reading pleasure.

Try not to get too excited.

As always I make two requests. One is for your feedback. If you haveany complaints, gripes, comments or praises you can always contact us by phone or over e-mail. Second, the Commentator is always looking for writers, editors and administrators. So if you would like to join this 62 year old institution, please contact us and we'll be happy to have you. All pertinent contact information can be found in the "Letters to the Editor" section.

I'd also like to once again thank my editorial staff: Ari Kahn, my co-editor, Mordechai Fishman and Adam Moses, the news editors, Nir Knoll, the outgoing features editor and Akiva Herzfeld, the incoming features editor, Aylon Glazer, the layout editor, Shai Samet and Mark Hecht, the sports editors and our incoming culture editor, Yishai Fleisher. I would also like to extend a thank you to Ben Sandler and Josh Yuter for placing us and continually updating us on the world wide web. Finally I'd like to ex tend another, most gracious thank you to everyone else who contributes to this wonderful publication. I realize you are underpaid and overworked, well, actually no one is paid, so scratch that. I realize you are all not paid and overworked and we at the C ommentator truly appreciate your contributions.

So I wish the readers of this fine paper good luck, good health and until next issue, adieu.
