Yeshiva University Represents the Future
To the Editor:
As a member of the Board of Trustees of Yeshiva University, I recently had the pleasure to view the facilities of the buildings and visit with some of the Deans, faculty and students, through the courtesy of Dr. Herbert Dobrinsky, Vice President for University Affairs, who escorted me throughout the day.
I must say it was a very positive and inspiring experience.
I was tremendously impressed with the intellectual caliber of the faculty and students I met, and was very pleased to observe the care with which the physical plant is being treated. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to sit in on a class and to have lunch with some undergraduate and graduate students. They very articulately expressed the satisfaction they took in their studies and spoke highly of the education YU was offering them, preparing them for their future plans.
I was immensely moved when I found myself in the Beit Midrash amidst the hum of students in two-by-two discourse/learning of Talmud. I felt that here, in this room was the future: the future of orthodox Jewish learning, the future of informed civil discourse, and the future of intellectual leadership.
I firmly believe that from this excellent institution will come great Jewish leaders, thinkers and strong citizens.
I am so proud to be, albeit in a small way, a part of this.
Sincerely yours,
E. Billi Ivry
