Naftali Olivestone

Candidate for YCSC Treasurer

[Naftali Olivestone]My name is Naftali Olivestone and I am running for YCSC Treasurer. What, you may ask, are the duties of the Treasurer? There are two answers. First, the Treasurer manages the Student Council budget. Let me assure you that I will not tolerate the misuse of any Student Council funds, and I will endeavor to put the available finances to uses deemed appropriate by the student body. Second, and more importantly, the Treasurer, along with as each of the members of the Student Council, must work together as a team to represent the needs and wants of the students.

Why, you may ask, am I qualified to properly serve as a member of your Student Council? During the two years that I have spent on this campus, I have been a member of the orientation committee, and have been a tutor in the writing center (yes, we actually have one of those). In addition, I served as Coordinator for this year's Chanukah Concert (any feedback or ideas for next year are welcome). I have also been involved an assorted other activities run through the Office of Student Services, such as the bowling event and the Super Bowl party. In each of these capacities, I have worked with numerous students and members of the administration, and have always succeeded in achieving the satisfaction of those involved.

I'm not going to make a series of bogus vows. I will not promise to have a new dorm built by next month, and I won't pledge to spend YCSC finances on nightly Dougie's floor parties for everyone (well, I'll think that one over). The student body is the most important piece of the puzzle that is this college. You, as a student, must make yourself heard. As your representative, I will want to hear from you. I ask for your vote, and I do make a promise to deem serious those issues deemed serious by the students.
