The YU Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert shall occur at 8:00 PM, Monday, May 10, 1999. The concert shall take place in Room 222 in the Schottenstein Center (185th St. between Audubon and St. Nicholas Aves.) Admission is free. All members of the YU community are invited to attend. The concert shall feature several original pieces and arrangements of jazz standards.

The physics club presents "A Cardboard Boat Contest" - build a boat from corrugated cardboard and then race it yourself! Chavrusa Basketball Tourney- This past Sunday, the talmidim in Rabbi Simon's MYP shiur held the first annual Chavrusa Basketball Tournament and Barbecue on the outdoor basketball courts. A delightful Shmooze was given by Rav Simon as part of the event which students thoroughly enjoyed.

Students Gather to Discuss The Balkan Conflict- SCW Student Golda Fleishman organized a meeting this past Sunday evening in conjunction with the political science department in which Drs. Bevan and Weinberger discussed the historical ramifications and America's foreign policy regarding the conflict in the Balkans. After they gave their presentations, a spirited debate ensued, in which students offered their opinions and appraisals of this current affair. Over 25 YC and SCW students attended.

Annual JSS/IBC Honors Luncheon- On April 27, IBC and JSS students were honored for their outstanding work and commitment to their Judaic Studies. Special congratulations to Daniel Robbins and Eli Shoshani, JSS and IBC valedictorians, respectively.

YU HOSTED DEBATE TOURNAMENT- Baruch Hashem for granting YUDS victory today. Congratulations to the following people for helping YUDS take back 2/3 of the total awards available at today's tournament:

OPCS- Office of placement and career services has begun a series of mini career fairs geared towards specific majors (other than accounting and finance). A special career night in the various fields and opportunities in psychology took place the week before Pesach. A science majors career fair and computer science information night followed in recent weeks. More to come in the future.

SHABBAT enhancement committee update- Parshat Emor, April 30-May 1 FEATURED SPEAKERS at the hot cholent tish are Rav Herschel Reichman, MYP & Rav Yitzchak Cohen, TMSTA. (Shabbat meals cost $5 if you sign up in the caf by Wednesday, $10 late fee after Wednesday night.)
