Lost in the City

YCSC Holds Annual Scavenger Hunt

by Simon Landsberg

On September 10th, Yeshiva College Student Council, in conjunction with the Stern College Student Council, sponsored its annual scavenger hunt. The effort was geared toward the creation of a social environment for the purpose of student enjoyment.

Attendees were treated to free pizza at Jerusalem II courtesy of YCSC/SCWSC funds. They were subsequently divided into groups. One attendee explained, " We didn't know what to expect, so we complied [blindly] and listened to the speakers tell us of the night's events. Not knowing many people, I joined a group of people whom were either friends, or friends to be. We took our clue lists and went on our way."

According to another student the list of clues was "amazing." Compiled by event organizers and senior class officers Jennie Weiss, Naama Dinewitz and Eric Schubert, it included questions and brain teasers to tax the participants minds and ingenuity.

One student described his sheer delight upon examining his unit's list. "My group was surprised to see requests for Broadway playbills, Waldorf pens, and Empire State building ticket stubs. My personal favorite was the clue 'King and Seamstress'....Lord and Taylor. We helped each other figure the answers out and also sought the assistance of pedestrians."

Sara Friedman, an SCW freshman, said, "It was a lot of fun. The clues were challenging and left room for creativity." Following the social event , all who attended received souvenir water bottles which had "LOST IN NEW YORK" written across the side.

Schubert expressed his satisfaction with the event. "It was very successful. All who came got to see a bit more of the city. It was an informal way of meeting people, and fun was had by all. About 125 people attended, I deem this very successful. Other events are in the works, which my friends and I plan to attend. I give a big Yasher Koach to the various student council members for a job well done."
