Bibi Makes Another Visit to Yeshiva

YU Alum Kurtzer Rumored as Next Ambassador to Israel

President George W. Bush is poised to name former Yeshiva College graduate and dean Daniel Kurtzer United States Ambassador to Israel. If appointed this summer, Kurtzer, who currently serves as US Envoy to Egypt, would replace Martin Indyk to become the first Orthodox Jewish Ambassador to Israel. He also would become the highest-ranking Yeshiva graduate in American public life.
Sy Syms Students Face Unexpected Hiring Freeze

As an aberration from the normally impressive trend of some 98% of Sy Syms School of Business seniors who annually secure jobs for their post-graduation year by late March of their final year in college, a staggering twenty SSSB seniors currently remain in doubt as to where they will be working next year.

Faculty Extends Tentative Grade Makeup Period

On March 27, 2001, the faculty of Yeshiva College passed five landmark resolutions, once again affirming its role as a group dedicated to both enhancement of the quality of education at Yeshiva and sensitive consideration of the day-to-day needs of the students. While all five resolutions promise salutary advantages for students, the measure most beneficial to students, perhaps, is the faculty's decision to officially extend the deadline before tentative grades are finalized from six weeks to a semester plus a summer.

Annual Sy Syms Dinner Cancelled

Commentator sources have learned that the Sy Syms School of Business Annual dinner, which traditionally takes place towards the end of the Spring semester, will not be held this year. Due to a budgetary dispute between the SSSB administration and the SSSB Student Council, the dinner, which primarily serves as a recruiting/networking event, has been called off.

President's Circle Donates $5,500 to Commie

In the face of mounting student frustration and complaints, the President's Circle of Yeshiva University - the alumni group that contributes to and controls an annual distribution of funds designed to aid undergraduate efforts and projects on campus - has finally promised to establish a formal line of communication with the students, in the hope of improving student perception of the Circle's fund distribution process.

Nochimson to Chair English Department

Dr. Joan Haahr recently announced plans to spend the upcoming year on sabbatical and subsequently resigned from her post as Chair of Yeshiva's English Department. After serving in that capacity for more than twenty years, Haahr passes her responsibilities on to Dr. Richard Nochimson, who will assume the post this coming fall.

From its modest beginning in 1972 as a sale featuring one table full of rishonim and achronim, the annual SOY Seforim Sale has expanded into a mega-event in New York City, this year attracting an estimated 18,000 customers - record breaking figures according to Sale organizers.
