Credit Where Credit is Due
While the Yeshiva community has bestowed praise and accolades on its sundry student leaders for their roles in facilitating the heartening wave of pro-Israel activism that has recently swept both campuses, the hitherto unmentioned partner in these endeavors deserves recognition and appreciation as well.  Often lambasted, Yeshiva's administration and facilities staff deserve our collective praise for their invaluable assistance in running the various rallies, demonstrations and marches to support Israel....

A given in newspaper reporting is that when reporting a conflict, one cannot trust members of either faction to provide the objective version of the facts.  For instance, it is overwhelmingly obvious to The Commentator that 1199 officials should not be a greater source of information about Yeshiva's finances than Yeshiva itself; however, that seems to be the case thus far, as administrators in the Office of Business Affairs have been less than forthcoming with financial statements....

Lubavitch Messianism Revisted
By Shmuel Pollen
I’d like to begin by cordially welcoming Chananya Weissman, author of “Cleaning up the Messianism”, to the catfight.  I’ve always been a firm believer that “the more the merrier,” and Chananya is a welcome addition to the debate.  In his article of two issues ago, he outlines what I believe to be the basic sentiment on campus (and elsewhere) towards Lubavitch Messianism at this point.  Several of the issues that he raised desperately beg to be addressed, and I am privileged to have the opportunity to do so....

A large group of people had gathered, but no one seemed pleased.  Another suicide bombing had struck deep inside the center of Jerusalem....

Pope Decries Sex Deprivation in West Bank Church
By Yehuda Kraut
ROME, ITALY – The Vatican released a papal statement yesterday condemning Israel’s continued siege of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, which has deprived all Catholic officials holed up inside of their daily regimen of food, medicine, and young boys....

YU-Nity: Media, Students, Presidency
By Avi Robinson
The media did not take us seriously.  At the end of a roller-coaster week of organizing, lobbying, and rallying in support of a unified President/Rosh HaYeshiva for Yeshiva University, I read with disbelief the coverage of the student protest in the local Jewish press.  Their distortions of our message, whether malicious or not, underscores a fundamental public pessimism about the ideals that motivated our actions....
