Students Investing In Israel

By Exchange Staff

In times of war, governments often rely on the sale of bonds and other investments to alleviate the costs of war. In times of great national strife, governments will push the sale of bonds. The United States in the past has issued zero coupon low yield war bonds with great success as the nation united with patriotism to help the government in its’ time of crisis. It is in that spirit that the student body has once again begun to show their support for Israel by creating the Israel Investment Club for students, faculty members, and friends of the university.

The goal of the Israeli Investment Club is twofold.  Firstly, the club will enable students to take an active and important role in the support of the Israeli economy. This support directly undermines the terrorist goal of destroying the Israeli economy. It is also a relatively safe way to generate a 5% return on investment. With the current investment climate, many investment professionals are advising that one should allocate a larger percentage of one’s assets into bonds. The club offers various types of bonds ranging from a mere $136 all the way up to $10,000.

The club’s second goal is to promulgate knowledge of Israel’s dire economic straits to the student body.  The club plans to hold discussions analyzing major Israeli business sectors and the relevant companies therein.  The club will also examine stock trends of various Israeli companies.

Additionally, members hope that the club spurs interest in aliyah, which eventually will translate into action.  For those interested in aliyah, the club is happy to provide information about the current career climate in Israel.

To date, students have received the club well.  “The Israeli Investment Club is a smorgasbord of opportunities and information for every student on the campus,” said Sy Syms senior Ari Hoffman. “If your interests lie within making aliyah, once again, you can greatly benefit from the club. Even if your interests lie within sheer investment analysis you can find that here too,” he enthused.

Another student exclaimed: “Israel’s battered economy is still under siege, and the Israeli Investment club has given the students, faculty, and friends of Yeshiva a way to lessen the carnage.”
