Interest in Campus Life: Apathy or Overkill? Student interest in campus politics and student-government-sponsored programs is imperative towards healthy development of campus life. Yeshiva’s new undergraduate constitution was meant to facilitate the diverse needs of the Wilf Campus student population. Yet, a recent survey of Yeshiva students discloses that many students share an overall sense of apathy towards its implementation. All You Wanted to
Know In differing ways, both the Mock Trial and Debate clubs
present unique experiences that combine realistic situations in socially
enjoyable settings. “I pretty much feel like everyone just does their own thing on campus and there’s no real overall religious environment to speak of,” Steve lamented recently when discussing the current state of the atmosphere on YU’s Wilf (main)campus. It is becoming more infrequent for students to experience the phenomena of being, in the words of chazal, “k-ish echad b’lev echad” on the YU campus as the stereotypical YU student becomes ever more atypical. The question that begs to be asked is- is the atmosphere and religious level now any different than it was in previous years? Due to popular demand, The Commentator is providing detailed instructions, assuming no prior computer knowledge, for setting up and using ymail, Yeshiva’s e-mail system. Our list includes both basic and advanced techniques. Pre-Law This past year, only a few survivors escaped unscathed from the tumultuous bear market. A select few even benefited; most notably, the classrooms of graduate schools have become more and more filled. It seems that for each point the stock market drops, another thousand students apply to law schools. Harvard, Yale, Columbia, N.Y.U., Cardozo and Fordham law schools all reported a record number of applications last year, with each school averaging around 8000 applicants. But what, in this increasingly fierce competition, can you do to assure yourself one of these valuable spots? Student Union
Committees are Up and Running At any given time, numerous programs and activities are taking place throughout the Wilf Campus. These events, as well as various other needs of the student body are the responsibility of Student Union Committees. This diverse group of committees is also responsible for serving as a liaison between the student body and the University administration. Although not known to the average student, these committees work behind the scenes to assure the smooth workings of the student-administration relationship. Why Mail with Ymail? Although a large percentage of students are unaware, one of the services offered to every Yeshiva student is a free email account. The account is set up automatically with the arrival of the student on campus, and the address given may often be very simple and desirable for the student.
