Yeshiva Struggles to Apprehend Cheaters
Entire Class Suffers Because of Few

The surge of cheating that has recently plagued Yeshiva has taken a turn for the worse, leaving an entire class of students up in arms.  Pending an investigation into alleged cheating during Professor Mitchell Kellman’s “Money and Banking” final examination, every student in the class received an I, or incomplete, as his final grade.

Local Fire Leaves One Dead and Several Injured

In a local tragedy, a fire broke out on 186th Street and Audubon Avenue on Saturday night, January 18, leaving one woman dead and many others injured.

IHP Student Injured in Altercation with Local Resident

Shortly before the beginning of winter break, a Yeshiva student from St. Louis who lived in an Independent Housing Program (IHP) apartment on 480 West 187th Street suffered an injury to his face after another individual attacked him at the building’s doorway. The student left Yeshiva to return home, and apparently will not return.  This is just the latest in a long list of incidents to occur at that building in recent months.

Libraries Install New Computer System

In a continuing effort to reach and surpass New York State’s standards for libraries, the Yeshiva library system has recently installed a new computerized Yeshiva University Library Information System (YULIS) catalog. The catalog includes information about the library collections at the Wilf and Midtown campuses, as well as the book collection at the Yeshiva University Museum.

YUNMUN Preparations in Full Swing

Jewish high school students from around the country have February 9th circled on their calendars, as it marks the thirteenth annual Yeshiva University National Model United Nations (YUNMUN) conference.  This year’s conference will take place at Kutsher’s Country Club in Monticello, New York for the third consecutive year.

Online Undergrad Registration Set for Fall ‘03

The wait is finally over.  Online registration is set to debut at Yeshiva by the fall ’03 semester.

At this point, the new registration system has been tested at Yeshiva’s Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, where approximately forty new students registering for the spring 2003 semester could to do so without waiting online and proceeding through the exhaustive Yeshiva registration process. Although new students entering Cardozo in the spring semester have a prescribed curriculum, the system tested the exchange of data between the web-front and BANNER, Yeshiva's student information system. Aside from several mishaps, the trial was successful.

First Physics Colloquium Discusses Fast Atomic Force Microscopy

Faculty members and several students gathered in the fifth floor of Furst Hall on February 3 for the first Physics colloquium of a series that will span the spring 2003 semester. The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Fredy R. Zypman, Professor of Physics at Yeshiva College, on the subject of fast atomic force microscopy.

The Guide Part II and New Features on YUStudents.org to Debut This Month

Capping a six-month wait, The Guide Part II, a directory of Yeshiva students, will be printed and released within the next few weeks.  According to Gennady Gelman, the Guide’s editor and a Yeshiva College senior, the Guide was given to the printers just before winter break.

L’man Achai Campaign Remembers Victims Through Torah

Striving to give true identity and depth to victims of the Palestinian intifada, a student-run initiative has organized students from over sixty schools and synagogues to engage in Talmud Torah in the memory of individuals who lost their lives.
